Digital design is an integrated approach of using digital technology and digital tools to carry out the design process. It enables exploration in design through the use of 3D visualization. Digital design of a product consists of bringing a certain piece of equipment, system or device to life in a satisfactory way, with the aim of being able to commercialise it later thanks to a production process.
Digital fabrication is a manufacturing process that uses computer-controlled tools to transform digital designs directly into useful products. There are many digital fabrication techniques, some of the most common ones being 3D Printing, CNC Machining and Laser Cutting.
Manufacturing Automation is the application of technologies to produce goods with minimal human intervention. The implementation of automation technologies, techniques and processes improves the efficiency by either reducing costs or increasing production capacity, often both.
Some of the automation technologies used in manufacturing are: robotics, big data, machine learning, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
